A BIT ABOUT ME
As a writer/producer, I've worked in Canada, Kenya and Tanzania. I got into journalism because life's hard to understand: journalism makes me feel like I'm trying.
Things I love about the work:
Hearing people tell their stories in their unique voices.
Being paid to read, learn, listen and keep up.
The humility at the heart of good reporting and writing.
I'm inspired by deeply-researched, solutions-focused journalism, collaboratively assembled and creatively delivered. Also, long-form narrative stories that drop you into someone's life and make you burn on some level.
I owe my career opportunities, at least in part, to a whack of privileges I've had special access to as a white Westerner: post-sec education, scholarships, fellowships, internships abroad, etc. I'm grateful. And I strive to get better, clearer and more impactful, with every story I write or produce.
